Michuki National Polytechnic former Michuki TTI is a middle-level public college in Muranga, Kangema sub-county. It offers diploma, craft certificate, and artisan levels courses.

Michuki NP has 5 curriculum departments namely Information Communication Technology (ICT), Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Science, and Institutional Management (IM). It has approximately 5,000 students doing various courses. 

The institute was one among many that benefited from government equipment for value addition. These equipment are used to train students on how to process a variety of food such as yogurt, sausages, and meat processing among other food processing activities.

Where is Michuki NP located?

MiNAP is located in the Muranga County Kangema sub-county. It is named after a former cabinet secretary Michuki Njoroge’s father who gifted the community the land when he was a paramount chief. The institute is accessible by road from Muranga or Nyeri town route.

The roads are tarmac and matatu pries the route from Nairobi through Muranga town and from Nyeri through Othaya.  It is in a location called Iyego and the nearest market is Karugia.

When are the next intakes?

Michuki NP has 3 intakes within the year to align with the KNEC exam and Ministry of Education requirements. The intakes are in January, May, and September of every year. However, inquiries can be made at any time within working hours using the contact details or by visiting the institute.

Fees and sponsorship 

Students pay part of the tuition fees and hostel fees for those who will be accommodated within the institute. Examination fees are paid separately from tuition and the amount depends on the course and current student module of study.

The government through the Ministry of Education gives capitation to subsidize tuition fees for students for all public TVET institutions. Students can also apply for HELB loans, constituency bursaries, and other sources to facilitate fee payment.

The government-approved tuition fee charged by the polytechnic is Kshs 67,189

Course entry requirement

The course entry requirement to join MiNAP is determined by the Ministry of Education but the institute can include subject clusters to filter applicants when the need arises.

For Diploma courses (Level 6), students require a minimum of C- and above in KCSE. To qualify Craft certificate (Level 5) a grade of D plain and D+ in KCSE is required. To undertake the Artisan course (Level 4) you are required to have a KCPE or KCSE mean grade of D- and E.

During admission, you will be required to submit documents such as KCPE and KCSE results, birth certificate, medical letter, filled application form, and passport among other documents for verification.
